EU and Critical Mahmood Unite to Spark Clean Energy Awareness in Bangladesh

In an innovative blend of music, advocacy, and international cooperation, the European Union (EU) and prominent Bangladeshi hip-hop artist Critical Mahmood have joined forces to launch a campaign titled “I’ve Got the Power.” This initiative, announced on Friday through an official press release, aims to raise awareness about the life-changing impact of renewable energy projects supported by the EU in Bangladesh.

The campaign, named after Mahmood’s inspirational track “I’ve Got the Power,” highlights the real-world benefits of clean energy for individuals and communities across Bangladesh. It seeks to inspire young people and broader audiences to embrace sustainable solutions and support the ongoing shift towards renewable energy in the country.

Music Meets Sustainability

At the heart of the campaign is the titular anthem, written and performed by Critical Mahmood. The song carries a powerful message about empowerment through access to clean and reliable energy sources. According to Mahmood, the collaboration is deeply personal and purposeful.

“As an artist, it is my passion to support positive change with an impact on real people,” Mahmood stated at the campaign’s launch event. “Renewable energy is crucial for the future prosperity of Bangladesh, and I’m proud to lend my voice to inspire change and contribute to a larger mission in collaboration with the European Union.”

Mahmood is known for fusing music with social commentary, and his involvement in this campaign underlines a growing trend where artists use their platforms to support pressing global issues such as climate change and energy equity.

EU’s Commitment to a Greener Bangladesh

Michael Miller, the European Union’s ambassador to Bangladesh, also addressed the importance of the campaign during the launch. He emphasized that the EU’s clean energy transition efforts are ultimately about improving lives — not just installing infrastructure.

“The clean energy transition is about people: their access to reliable power, their access to economic opportunities,” said Miller. “This campaign should make us think about how we can all work to build a sustainable future for individuals and communities in Bangladesh.”

The EU has long supported Bangladesh in its renewable energy goals, funding and facilitating projects that bring solar, wind, and other clean energy solutions to rural and underserved communities. These projects not only reduce dependence on fossil fuels but also open new avenues for economic development and energy independence.

Spreading the Message

“I’ve Got the Power” is not just a song but the centerpiece of a broader multimedia campaign. Through live performances, online content, social media activations, and local engagement initiatives, the campaign will aim to build awareness around the benefits of renewable energy. It will target both urban youth and rural populations, encouraging all segments of society to play a role in the energy transition.

Organizers hope the campaign will also inspire other artists, influencers, and community leaders to speak out about climate and energy issues, turning sustainability into a shared cultural movement.

A Model for Future Collaborations

This campaign serves as a compelling example of how creative partnerships between governments, international organizations, and artists can amplify important messages. By bridging policy with pop culture, the EU and Critical Mahmood are demonstrating how storytelling, music, and grassroots engagement can be powerful tools in the fight for climate resilience and energy equity.

As the world continues to grapple with the urgent need for clean energy solutions, initiatives like “I’ve Got the Power” are paving the way for more inclusive, people-centered approaches to sustainability — and putting a powerful spotlight on Bangladesh’s role in the global green transition.
