War in Ukraine: Missile attack leaves two injured in kyiv

Ukrainian air defenses shot down about 20 missiles heading toward kyiv on the night of Sunday 1 to Monday 2 September, local authorities announced, in an attack that left two people injured. “Russian forces carried out a new missile strike on Kiev. It combined cruise missiles and ballistic missiles,” the Ukrainian capital’s civil and military administration said on Telegram.

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said two adults were injured and four cars caught fire after falling debris. In two other districts of the capital, a boiler room fire was quickly extinguished, while another fire affected a business, according to the mayor.

According to the civil and military administration of the Ukrainian capital, the cruise missiles were fired from strategic bombers flying in the Russian region of Saratov and after having carried out “complex maneuvers”, arrived in the direction of kyiv from the south. “The air defense forces destroyed in the airspace of the capital more than ten cruise missiles and about ten ballistic missiles, and a drone,” said this source.
