Niger EU Delegation: Recruitment 2023 – Admin Support

The European Union (EU) is the result of an economic and political partnership between 27 European countries. It plays a major role on the international scene, whether through diplomacy, trade, development aid or cooperation with international organizations. Abroad, it is represented by more than 140 diplomatic representations, also known as EU delegations, which have a function similar to that of an embassy.

The EU Delegation to the Republic of Niger promotes and defends the values and interests of the EU, as well as all activities relating to the monitoring of bilateral relations in the areas of political, economic, commercial and cooperation relations.

We propose

We are offering a Group IV local agent position for the Administrative Support function. During recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific position as support staff in accounting and protocol/logistics support within the Administration section; this function may vary according to the needs of the Delegation. The successful candidate will serve as support staff for the following tasks under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Administration:

the processing / follow-up of purchase orders;
monitoring an invoice schedule;
banking of payments;
payment processing as an initiating money manager;
protocol / logistics: the preparation, practical organization and conduct of visits and high-level events in support of the logistician;
the interim of the ADMIN secretariat and the switchboard operator.
any other administrative work requested by the service.
Conditions of employment:

The contract will be for an indefinite period after a trial period. The post of group IV local agent offers remuneration in reference to the salary grid established by the European External Action Service. The salary is based on professional experience directly relevant to the duties of the local agent. It will therefore be calculated according to the recognized experience of the successful candidate.

Normal working hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Monday to Thursday; and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

Selection criteria

Minimum requirements:

Be medically fit to perform the required duties;
Enjoy civil rights and possess work permits in accordance with local legislation;
Have a perfect knowledge of the French language (written and oral) and a sufficient knowledge of English;
BAC level training in management, administration or accounting attested by a diploma;
Have at least three (3) years of professional experience related to the job description;
Good knowledge and experience of computer tools (Microsoft Office).
The following will be considered an asset:

Higher education at Bac+2 level or equivalent (BTS training or equivalent);
work experience in an international organization;
knowledge of European Commission procedures.

Other skills:

Ability to work in a team, ability to work proactively and with rigour, respect for deadlines, resistance to stress, great flexibility, great capacity for adaptation and openness in a multicultural setting, ability to communicate in writing, speaking and relationally.

The procedure

After the expiry of the deadline for submitting applications, they will be examined by a selection committee set up for this purpose. The selection committee will establish a shortlist of candidates deemed most suitable for the position, based on a preliminary assessment of the information provided in the application letters and supporting documents. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the assessment phase, which may include an interview if necessary – at this stage the selection committee will assess the candidates’ suitability for the position. Candidates who have not been shortlisted will not be contacted individually. However, the Delegation will inform candidates by e-mail that the recruitment procedure has been completed and that a candidate has been (or not) recruited.
