Diplomacy: Tunisian Foreign Minister Visits Algeria

Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Al-Nafti, responsible for Migration and Tunisians Abroad, has embarked on a two-day working visit to Algeria starting Saturday, October 19, 2024.

According to a statement from the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit is taking place at the invitation of Algeria’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf. The ministry emphasized that this visit reflects the mutual desire of Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed and his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune to elevate the relationship between the two nations to a strategic partnership.

During his visit, the Tunisian diplomat will review recent developments in bilateral cooperation across several sectors, including economic, development, energy, and culture. The aim is to identify effective ways to enhance these collaborations further.

Additionally, discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring opportunities for cooperation in economy, energy, development, and culture. Political consultations between the two countries will also be on the agenda, along with coordination on issues of common interest at both regional and international levels.

This visit comes just a week after the final results of the presidential election were announced, leading to the re-election of President Kaïs Saïed for a five-year term.

Furthermore, President Saïed recently received a handwritten letter from President Tebboune inviting him to attend the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Algerian revolution. This invitation was conveyed by Mohamed Arkab, the Minister of Energy and Mines, serving as a special envoy from President Tebboune.
