War in Ukraine: massive attack on Moscow, kyiv and 15 regions affected

Russian attack that hit 15 Ukrainian regions, including the capital Kiev on Monday, August 26, President Volodymyr Zelensky speaks of “one of the biggest combined attacks” since the beginning of the invasion, and points out numerous damages to energy structures. By attacking these hydroelectric power stations, Russia is trying to paralyze Ukraine. The strikes began during the night, with a hundred missiles and a hundred drones fired by Moscow in 15 Ukrainian regions, including Zaporizhzhia, kyiv and Kharkiv, says Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the Ukraine for Freedom network, nearly 250,000 people are currently without electricity in the east of the country. Strikes have also targeted water treatment plants in kyiv. In some districts, the water supply has been interrupted.

Other explosions have sounded just above the capital, forcing residents to take refuge in the metro. Crowded underground, the refugees have given themselves courage with songs of hope to try to pass the long hours of waiting. For the moment, the authorities report at least three dead and dozens injured. A feared attack, which occurred two days after the anniversary of Ukrainian independence. Volodymyr Zelensky has again asked for help from Europe.
