All the professors, researchers and staff of the Collège de France call for opposition to the far-right candidates during the two rounds of the legislative elections. A position that does not result from a political a priori but from the observation that its program undermines research.
We, professors, researchers and staff of the Collège de France, determined to defend the rule of law and the principle of equality without distinction of origin, deeply attached to the values of Europe, we call on the scientific community and all citizens to block the far-right candidates during the two rounds of the legislative elections.
This position does not result from a political a priori but from the observation that the program of the main party of this movement (1), if we read it correctly, seriously undermines the independence and international openness of research. This program does not only intend to abolish the right of the birthplace, reserve social benefits for French families or privatize public broadcasting; He also claims to reduce the rights of dual nationals and to remove France from the controls of constitutional law and international law in areas as essential as family reunification and the fight against discrimination. All these measures are contrary to our values.
