Vietnamese Ambassador Presents Credentials to UNESCO Director-General

She affirmed Vietnam’s foreign policy focused on independence, autonomy, diversification and the promotion of its multilateral relations. The country views culture, science and education as important drivers for rapid and sustainable national development, she said.

The Vietnamese ambassador also expressed her gratitude to UNESCO for its support and assistance, particularly in the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Vietnamese government and UNESCO for the period 2021-2025. She proposed to UNESCO to continue supporting Vietnam in the development of new heritage documents, the preservation and promotion of heritage sites recognized by UNESCO, including conservation, restoration and development projects. of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel.

The Ambassador pledged to fulfill her mission and Vietnam’s responsibilities as a member of UNESCO, and to deepen cooperation with UNESCO in an effective and substantial manner, thus contributing to the achievement of the objectives of the UNESCO and the socio-economic development of localities and the country.

For her part, UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay appreciated and thanked Vietnam’s role, as well as its extremely active and responsible participation and contribution to UNESCO.

She expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the close and effective cooperation between Vietnam and UNESCO in all fields, considering it a model. She also called for promoting it in other areas, including climate, water, ocean science, artificial intelligence, etc.

She stressed that the recent increase in human resources at the UNESCO Hanoi Office, as part of UNESCO’s general reform efforts, would greatly contribute to promoting future cooperation with Vietnam.
