Regarding maritime issues, the two sides stressed the importance of seriously implementing the agreements and common perceptions of senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries on better control and resolution of disagreements at sea, to put fully and effectively implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), promote negotiations on the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) to achieve substantial progress.
Minister Bùi Thanh Son proposed that the two sides respect each other’s legitimate interests, in accordance with international law, in particular the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability and development in the region.
