Foreign Minister at ministerial meeting on Future Summit 2024

In his speech, the head of Vietnamese diplomacy insisted on the need to fully listen to the opinions of countries and parties concerned. Bùi Thanh Son also considered that future agreements should focus on promoting the Sustainable Development Goals, guaranteeing equity, justice and the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities. He also asserted that reform of global multilateral systems, including international financial institutions, should prioritize ensuring rights and creating a greater voice for developing countries…

On the same day, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son held meetings with his counterparts from Belarus, Estonia and Hungary, as well as with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq.

Bùi Thanh Son and his Belarusian counterpart Sergei Aleinik agreed to strengthen political consultation mechanisms and actively prepare delegation exchange activities, especially high-level ones.

The head of Vietnamese diplomacy and his Hungarian counterpart, Péter Szijjártó, pledged to actively coordinate to prepare delegation exchange activities, strengthen cooperation and mutual support in multilateral forums…

During his meeting with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, Bùi Thanh Son proposed that Estonia encourage the European Commission to withdraw the “yellow card” imposed on Vietnamese exports of aquatic products. For his part, Margus Tsahkna expressed the hope that the two parties would strengthen their cooperation in the areas of digital technology, green transformation and transport.

During their meeting, Minister Bui Thanh Son and Deputy Prime Minister and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein agreed to promote the early completion of procedures for reopening the Iraqi Embassy in Hanoi and to organize a meeting of the Joint Bilateral Cooperation Committee will soon be held.
