Ukraine’s Grain Agreement Fallout: Black Sea Tensions

Massive bombardments took place in Odessa or in southern Ukraine. kyiv accuses Moscow of specifically targeting its port infrastructure, in order to prevent any possible resumption of grain exports.
For three days, Odessa (Ukraine) has become the new epicenter of the conflict. The Russian army bombs the strategic port of Ukraine and claims to aim at military targets. But in one place, it was many civilians who were hit. “One person died, his body was discovered a few minutes ago under the rubble of an administrative building,” reports Oleg Kiper, head of the military administration of the Odessa region. Port infrastructures are mainly affected.

The Kremlin threatens Ukraine

More than 60,000 tonnes of grain went up in smoke with consequences that go far beyond Ukraine. “This will create a huge food crisis in the world. It’s a barbaric attitude,” said Josep Borrell, head of European diplomacy. These attacks come after Moscow suspended the Black Sea agreement which allowed Ukraine to export 33 million tonnes of grain to 45 countries in Europe, Africa and Asia in one year. The Kremlin is going further by now threatening Ukraine.
