Bavarian PM Advocates For Skilled Workers & Romania’s Schengen Access

Bucharest – During a short visit to Romania on February 13, Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) held talks with Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă (PNL) and State President Klaus Johannis before flying to Albania for similar talks.

The main goal of the visit was the “targeted strengthening of Bavaria in Europe” and the recruitment of skilled workers in the Balkans, especially in the areas of care, energy, technology and IT, explained Söder before the arrival, quoted by the daily newspaper Bild. At the same time, the bilateral agreement between Romania and the Free State of Bavaria was reaffirmed, and the joint government commission should be completely revitalized, Ciucă explained during the press conference.

Prime Minister Söder spoke about the recognition and appreciation of Romania’s development in recent years, as well as the expansion of economic and scientific cooperation and an expansion of exchanges between the police and judicial authorities. Söder also emphasized Bavaria’s support for Romania’s Schengen accession, with Romania being “not the problem, but part of the solution”.
