Senior Chinese Diplomat Supports Open International Business Environment

China is willing to work resolutely with Belgium to maintain an open rather than divided, orderly rather than chaotic international trade environment, a senior Chinese diplomat in Munich, Germany said on Saturday.

Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks during his meeting with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo on the sidelines of the 59th Munich Conference on security.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said relations between the two countries have maintained good momentum of development. For his part, De Croo said the two countries have frequent exchanges and close communication. The Belgian side attaches great importance to its relations with China, and will continue to adhere to the one-China principle, he stressed.

He hoped the two countries would continue to strengthen cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, civil aviation and new energy.
