On Thursday, November 7, 2024, over 50 young Mauritanians gathered at the OMVS Park in Nouakchott for a pivotal debate on climate action in Mauritania. This event, held as part of the Green Diplomacy Week, was organized in collaboration with the European Union (EU) Delegation to Mauritania, the Nouakchott Region, and the Green Mauritania Youth Network (GreeM). The gathering provided a vital platform for young people to engage with European and local representatives on current environmental challenges.
The debate allowed participants to express their concerns and ideas for a sustainable future while directly interacting with the EU Ambassador to Mauritania, H.E. Joaquin Tasso Vilallonga, and the Vice-President of the Nouakchott Region, Mrs. Hawa Sidibe. Discussions focused on the pressing climate issues in the region, youth mobilization, and concrete solutions aimed at raising awareness and fostering positive climate actions in Mauritania.
The active participation of the youth highlighted their desire to play a crucial role in addressing climate change.
