Algeria’s opening of an embassy in Ljubljana on Friday demonstrates its willingness to embark on “a new era” in relations with Slovenia, said Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf.
“With the establishment of this new diplomatic representation, we are truly determined to open a new chapter that will mark the beginning of a new era in relations between Algeria and Slovenia,” Attaf said at the embassy’s inauguration.
According to the minister, the opening of the Algerian embassy in Slovenia constitutes “a new chapter towards increased economic cooperation and deeper political coordination between the two friendly countries,” as well as “towards exploiting the full potential of bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.”
For the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the establishment of an Algerian diplomatic mission in Ljubljana also represents “a new chapter towards the construction of a solid, resilient and dynamic Algerian-Slovenian partnership” which “will benefit not only the two countries”, but also the “ideals of peace, stability and global prosperity” in which both countries believe.
Recalling that the inauguration of the Algerian embassy in Ljubljana comes only three months after the official inauguration of the Slovenian embassy in Algiers on the occasion of the “fruitful” visit to Algeria by Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob, Attaf stressed that this visit “has opened the way to new perspectives and new ambitions for the development of bilateral relations”.
“Today’s inauguration also comes in a context of positive dynamics in the ties of friendship, cooperation and coordination between Algeria and Slovenia,” he noted, noting, in this regard, a “considerable” increase in the volume of economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the field of energy.
“We have also seen the scope of our priorities gradually expand to include other areas, such as artificial intelligence, higher education, the pharmaceutical industry and renewable energies,” he added.
Noting a “gradual increase” and in both directions in the flow of exchanges of official visits with many high-level visits in preparation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the cooperation between the two countries within the UN Security Council.
“We have seen our two delegations working tirelessly and closely together within the UN Security Council to promote the conditions necessary for global peace and stability, despite the polarized international environment that continues to prevent the Council from assuming its responsibilities and carrying out its tasks that are so vital to all of us,” he stressed.
However, despite what has been achieved so far, Mr. Attaf said he “sincerely” believes that “the best of our bilateral relations is yet to come” and that “there is enormous potential for cooperation and partnership between the two friendly nations.”
He said, in this regard, that his meetings with various senior Slovenian officials “have highlighted our strong political will, our shared expectations and our common vision for the development of this relationship in all its dimensions. »
“Whether it is trade, greater investments, or deeper coordination, we have jointly defined an ambitious program with the aim of exploring the promising and bright future of cooperation and partnership between Algeria and Slovenia,” he concluded.
