Karamoko Jean Marie TRAORE, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe Abroad, granted an audience on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 to the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Lu SHAN.

A few weeks before the opening of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation 2024, the Chinese diplomat came to discuss with the Minister of Foreign Affairs the preparations for this summit, and especially to discuss Burkina Faso’s participation in the said high-level meeting.

Lu SHAN reassured that preparations are going well, and that all arrangements are being made to ensure a good stay for the Burkinabe delegation, and those of other African countries. Scheduled for September 4 to 6, 2024 in Beijing, the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) promises to be a decisive moment to strengthen strategic ties between China and Africa.

According to Karamoko Jean Marie TRAORE, Burkina Faso has high expectations of this summit, in terms of strengthening bilateral cooperation, and in terms of opportunities to seize during the work.

FOCAC 2024 will therefore be placed under the theme “Joining forces to promote modernization and build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future”. It aims to renew and strengthen a friendship that has lasted for several decades.

The People’s Republic of China, the main trading partner of many African countries including Burkina Faso, considers this summit as an opportunity to strengthen its ties with Africa.
