The European Union (EU) is the result of an economic and political partnership between 27 European countries. It plays a major role on the international stage, whether through diplomacy, trade, development aid or cooperation with international organisations. Abroad, it is represented by more than 140 diplomatic representations, also known as EU delegations, which have a function similar to that of an embassy.
Nigeria is the largest economy in West Africa. It is the most populous nation in Africa; a leader in the collective quest for an African continent fully prepared to assume its rightful place in world affairs. It is therefore a natural strategic partner for the EU.
Responsibilities
Driving for the delegation’s staff and visitors in accordance with the mission, in a safe and lawful manner, to ensure the safety of passengers and the longevity of vehicles;
Cleaning, maintaining and repairing vehicles under his/her responsibility;
Checking the level of fuel, engine oil, radiator water, brake fluid, power steering fluid, etc.;
Tackling car registration formalities;
Updating vehicle documents, including the vehicle logbook;
Delivering messages, mail, diplomatic pouch, etc.
Assisting with customs clearance procedures upon request;
With knowledge of driving and mechanics;
Familiarity with the location of large buildings (embassies, ministries, international organizations, etc.);
Sense of initiative, organization, responsibility, punctuality and discretion;
Ability to perform tasks quickly and efficiently, even when working under pressure and while respecting driving laws;
Good physical condition (annual medical examination is mandatory);
Knowledge of computer tools – Microsoft Office
Motivated and proactive, ability to work in a multicultural environment, in a team and/or alone, respect for deadlines, ability to manage stressful situations and work to tight deadlines, and perform well under pressure;
Communicate clearly and courteously, both with internal and external contacts;
Work within a multicultural team, demonstrating good interpersonal skills;
Any other task assigned by the Head of Administration.
Requirements
Medically fit to perform the required functions;
Has civil rights and employment permits under Nigerian labor law;
Satisfactory knowledge of English
Lower secondary education in a relevant field and minimum 3 years of experience in performing driver-related tasks. In-depth knowledge of secretarial tasks.
The following will be considered an asset:
A degree in mechanics would be an asset;
A Defence Driving Diploma
A Certificate in Driving an Armoured Vehicle
Previous experience in a diplomatic mission
Working level knowledge of the French language
