The representative of the European Union in Madagascar is asked to pack her bags

The diplomat greatly irritated the Malagasy president with comments considered too direct, not taking gloves to openly criticize the regime of Andy Rajoelina

The straw that broke the camel’s back was a comment by Isabelle Burger Delattre about the new law imposing castration for child rapists. The representative of the European Union judged this law to be contrary to the constitution and international commitments of Madagascar. President Andry Rajoelina requested his recall.

The French diplomat, but working on behalf of Europe, arrived only two years ago. She was already in the crosshairs for these “cash” positions. During the presidential campaign, she felt that the election should be postponed, going in the direction of the opposition.

She also sharply criticized the management of funds offered by Europe for the maintenance of the road network, implying that there was evaporation in the budgets granted. This is not diplomatic usage.

According to the newspaper “Le Monde”, Isabelle Burger Delattre could be replaced next September. Andry Rajoelina thus sends a warning to the diplomatic corps asked not to tickle the sovereignty of Madagascar.
