Meloni’s Rome Meeting: One Week Away

The President of the Italian Council, Giorgia Meloni, welcomed, on Sunday July 16, 2023, the memorandum of understanding concluded between Tunisia and the European Union, assuring that it is a crowning achievement of great diplomatic work.

Giorgia Meloni said: “I am happy with the signing of the memorandum of understanding in Tunis. This is an important step to establish a concrete partnership between Tunisia and the European Union in order to deal with migration… Italian diplomacy has worked with dedication to achieve this objective… This partnership with Tunisia must be seen as a model for building new relations with our neighbors in North Africa, and we must continue to work to implement the provisions of this memorandum…”.

She continued: “The next meeting to be held in Rome next Sunday, where President Saïed will be a privileged guest, will be a continuation of our collaboration and cooperation… This step is crucial to create a concrete partnership between Tunisia and the European Union to deal with migration and common problems…”.
